Erythrura trichroa  

These can be very hard birds to find. They are usually at high altitude in places such as Mount Lewis near Julatten but in winter they come down to the lower parts of the tablelands. It has only been in recent years that some of these locations have been found.

I chased these birds for half an hour before getting some poor photos. It was a rainy day and quite dark and high ISO meant grainy photos but my views of the bird were magic.
